tuneup-facebookbannerOn April 23rd, Summerfolk will host the fourth installment of its monthly Music Biz Tune Up workshop series in the boardroom of the Canadian Mental Health Association in downtown Owen Sound. Janine Dunlop – regional advisor for the Ontario Ministries of Citizenship and Immigration; and Tourism, Culture and Sport – will host the session as an introduction to grant writing.

Diversifying revenue streams is critical for small businesses and the music business is no different. With the escalating costs of touring, recording, and marketing, successful independent musicians need the skills to find capital to offset up-front expenses. Independent and government granting agencies can often offer support for musicians but knowing how to find and apply for grants is essential. The two hour workshop on April 23rd will introduce participants to granting agencies and break down the components of a successful grant application.
