On May 28th, Summerfolk will host the fifth installment of the monthly Music Biz Tune Up workshop series in the boardroom of the Canadian Mental Health Association in downtown Owen Sound. Professional web and graphic designers Tracy Fawcett and Simon Farla will introduce key concepts and best practices for online marketing, promotion, and branding.

Websites and digital promotional materials are often the first stop when customers want to learn more about a business whether it's a local store, an artist, or musician. In a culture where digital resources and websites are both necessary and common, the quality of your first digital impression can determine whether customers return. The next Music Biz Tune Up will help participants make sense of, and stand out in, our crowded digital marketplace.

Tracy Fawcett and Simon Farla are experienced graphic and web designers who have worked with clients ranging from musicians and music festivals, to local businesses and non-profit organizations. In Farla's words, they'll draw on their collective experience to teach participants "how to use your website as an effective communication tool for your business and your brand". The workshop is appropriate for anyone looking for ideas to develop or improve their online presence.

Summerfolk is presenting Music Biz Tune Up workshops monthly to help local musicians of all genres develop the business skills they need to make a living from their music without having to leave the area. The online marketing and promotion workshop will run from 1-3pm on May 28th in the boardroom of the Canadian Mental Health Association at 1024 2nd Ave East, Owen Sound. Participants can register online at Summerfolk.org/musicbiztuneup or at the door on the day of the workshop. Registration is $20.
