Jennifer Hicks is looking for artists and downtown shops to collaborate in a unique large scale community exhibit, Screen Shot 2018-03-02 at 3.28.30 PM"Merchants and Artists in the Sound" (MAS).
For those looking for a new way to showcase their art, she is looking for artists and makers ready to exhibit for one week in a downtown shop whose products and services complement the artist's creative style. For businesses who want to bring more people through the door, Jennifer would like them to be host venues. All they need is five linear feet of wall space or a street-facing window.
MAS is a free service which Jennifer hopes will work to reveal more of the potential of Owen Sound. She plans to celebrate local culture and enterprise with an opening reception and other special events.
From Jennifer Hick's biography "Starting out on Hamilton's James Street North before anyone knew that Hamilton had more going on than steel, Hicks continued to use art to inject meaning into her life with art exhibits and events through a Fine Art Specialist degree at teachers college. A stint as the pottery technician at Dundas Valley School of Art led to learning about traditional Korean pottery methods and teaching in Korea.
"Ten years later Jennifer returned to Canada with her four year old son, and a recent move to Owen Sound (with her now-teenaged son) has opened new art opportunities that Hicks is happily meeting head on."
