film festivalOn Wednesday, June 13 the Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival screening will take place at the Galaxy Cinemas in Owen Sound. This free event is open to the public. Doors open at 5:00 pm and the screening will begin at 5:30 pm.

Audience members will be treated to a full screening of 13 short films created by youth from across Grey and Bruce Counties. The screening is followed by an awards ceremony announcing the winners of the 2018 Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival.

This year's films include a knock-knock joke, 2 dogs, a frustrated delivery boy and a murder mystery. The Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival offers a great opportunity to see the work of young, local, amateur filmmakers. Films screened at the Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival are created for a teen audience and may contain scenes some viewers may find disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised.

The Library would like to gratefully acknowledge the United Way of Bruce Grey and Galaxy Cinemas Owen Sound as the major sponsors of this event as well as the support of the judges and program volunteers. We would also like to acknowledge the participation of Grey Bruce Pride who have supported the addition of a new prize category for films that explore what it's like to be an LGBTQ+ youth in our community.

The 2018 Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival is organized by the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library, with the participation and sponsorship of Galaxy Cinemas, The United Way of Bruce Grey, Richard Thomas Communications, Wightman Telecom, Bruce Telecom, the Meaford International Film Festival, Scenic City Film Festival, Bruce County Public Library, Grey Highlands Public Library, Hanover Public Library, Meaford Public Library and West Grey Public Library.
