Dan-Needles2Author and playwright Dan Needles will be performing at the Colpoy's Bay Women's Institute Hall at 7:30pm on August 31. This fundraiser will continue the work of the remarkable group of women who have revived the hall and supported the Colpoy's Bay Pier Enhancement Project.

For 30 years, Dan Needles has been bringing to life the stories and characters of his mythical Persephone Township, a fictional rural Canadian community two hours north of the big city. Nominated three times for the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour, Dan won in 2003 for his local history of Persephone Township, With Axe and Flask. His Wingfield Farm series of stage plays have appeared in virtually every English speaking theatre in Canada, including the Stratford Festival and Royal Alex in Toronto and eventually became a popular television series aired on CBC, Bravo and the PBS networks. Since 1988, Dan and his wife Heath have made their home at Larkspur Farm in Simcoe County, within sight of Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment.

From more than a thousand platforms, Dan Needles has entertained crowds with a message of neighbourhood, affection and the power of farmer thinking. For more information and to reserve tickets ($25), contact [email protected]; online tickets are available at ticketscene.ca.
