Noises OffThe Owen Sound Little Theatre 58th season has been deemed The Season of Comedy and they’re kicking it off with a bang: the hysterical, full-throttle, laugh-a-minute play, Noises Off.

Directed by Kevin Haxell (director of last year’s comedy-thriller, The Ghost Island Light), Noises Off is a classic comedic farce about life in the theatre, complete with out-of-control egos, intermittent memory loss, flubbed lines and passionate affairs. Brimming with slapstick humour, this play-within-a-play captures a theatre troupe’s production in its three stages: dress rehearsal, opening night and a show near the end of a debilitating run.

Noises Off features a large ensemble cast of comedic actors: Jane and Jed Phillips (The Childrens Hour and Spamalot, respectively), Cory Laycock (director of April’s musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Ross Docherty (The Ghost Island Light), Sue Séguin (The Donnellys) Peter Leonard (An Act of the Imagination), Michael Johnston (OSLT Debut) , Connie Rossitter (The Perils of Persephone), and Dale Albrecht (Spamalot).

The Roxy’s new Executive Director, Matt Evans, is excited and overwhelmed by the professionalism and strength of Owen Sound Little Theatre’s work. “The quality of these Little Theatre productions is second-to-none,” Evans said. “Our regular patrons know what a plus The Roxy Theatre is to Owen Sound’s arts and culture scene and we invite them to share that. Our Season of Comedy is the perfect introduction – I’d invite everyone to bring a friend, neighbour or colleague to see this show, kick back and have a good time.”

Thursday, November 8th is opening night and, with it, comes free bubbly, a ribbon-cutting with Mayor Ian Boddy, a Hollywood-style backdrop for selfies with the stars, and all the excitement that comes with the kick off to 58 years of excellent local theatre.

Noises Off runs November 8-10, 14-17 and 22-24, 2018 with all shows at 7:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased in person at our box office, online at roxytheatre.ca or by calling 519-371-2833.
