The Owen Sound Artists Co-op and The Workshop project are pleased to announce the arrival of a Charles Brand Printing Press. The extra large press support projects up to 30’ x 60’. The press was brought from Quebec and will be the premier press for etching, intaglio and mono printing.

The Printmaking Workshop space will offer the community, schools, and artists the ability to explore printing processes and to develop a body of work. There have already been number of printing workshops using the new press and several other smaller presses.

“We were able to bring this valuable piece of equipment to the community thanks to the generosity of a local donor,” says Co-op Manager and Workshop coordinator Morag Budgeon. “We’d like to express our deep gratitude to John Tamming of Owen Sound. Without his support this wouldn’t have happened.”

“This donation underscores his commitment to the arts in the region and to the importance of arts and arts education.”

“A ‘community builder’, John has continually shown his commitment to creating a more vibrant city. We would like to thank him and encourage others to step forward and help this worthy endeavor.”

The Workshop has been offering classes since August. The main equipment supports printmaking, jewellery and pottery, but so far, there have also been classes in stained glass, acrylic painting, encaustic, Chinese Brush painting, collages, copper etching and stamping and felting. Upcoming classes are posted on the Artists’ Co-op website, www.artistscoop.ca
