Jonathan CrowThere is a unique opportunity this Saturday to hear international soloist and recording artist, Jonathan Crow, perform with the Georgian Bay Symphony. Crow, who is a JUNO Award winning violinist and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra Concert Master will perform the virtuoso Violin Concerto by Sibelius. The Orchestra will perform Sibelius’ Symphony No. 3 as well as premiering a new work by Canadian composer Kevin Zi-Xiao He.

Crow has been Concertmaster of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since 2011. Prior to that he was the concert master at the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and was the youngest concertmaster of any major North American orchestra. Crow has been a guest concertmaster with the National Arts Centre Orchestra (Ottawa), the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (Europe), and the Pernambuco Festival Orchestra in Brazil. Jonathan has performed as a soloist with most major Canadian orchestras including the Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver Symphony Orchestras, and Calgary Philharmonic and now he will be performing with the GBS.

Jonathan is also currently Associate Professor of Violin at the University of Toronto and is the Artistic Director of Toronto Summer Music. He is a founding member of the JUNO Award–winning New Orford String Quartet. Jonathan has recorder for a number of record labels and can be frequently heard on CBC Radio Two, National Public Radio, Radio France, Deutsche Welle, and the RAI in Europe.
