100squares

The Tom Thomson Art Gallery is thrilled to announce the return of 100 Squares.

This popular Gallery Shop project invites artists to contribute miniature works to be featured on the Gallery Shop’s Community Artist Wall throughout June - August.

In 2018’s 100 Squares, the Gallery saw 45 artists participate, and over 60 works sold. As 100 Squares is on view from June – August, the busiest months of the Gallery’s year, thousands of Gallery visitors will view the project. 2018’s exhibition was viewed by over 4,500 visitors from around the world who expressed their joy in seeing such a celebration of local art in the Gallery. Works sold from past year’s 100 Squares have found homes in Europe, the United States, and across Canada.

Artists can create in the medium of their choosing with the provision that the work can be hung within a 100mm2 space (10cm X 10cm X 10cm). Artists can submit up to five works, which will be shown throughout the 3-month display of the show. Details on the submission due date and other requirements can be found on the 100 Squares submission form, which is available from the Gallery. Each of the 100 Squares spaces will be assigned according to the number of submitted works, meaning that as pieces are sold new works will be added creating an ever evolving exhibition for visitors.

Artists interested in participating in 100 Squares are encouraged to contact Hillary Weppler at 519-376-1932 ext. 223 or via email to [email protected] or visit the Gallery’s website at www.tomthomson.org to access the submission form.
