roxy-fullOttawa, ON – Today, Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, announced that the Government of Canada is providing $20,000 to support the Roxy Theatre 2015-2016 Professional Presenting Series.
The Professional Presenting Series is a regular performing arts series offered by the Owen Sound Little Theatre. The series includes multidisciplinary performances from a variety of established and emerging Canadian artists. Funding for the series is being provided through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund. This funding program provides financial assistance to organizations that professionally present arts festivals or performing arts series, as well as support for the organization.
"We are thrilled to receive this vital funding from the Government of Canada. This money allows us to bring emerging and established professional Canadian artists to our rural community who would not otherwise perform in our area. In doing so, we are able to diversify and build our audience base, making our organization more stable and sustainable," said Maria Canton, Theatre Manager at the Roxy Theatre/Owen Sound Little Theatre.
"I am pleased to announce that the Government of Canada will be providing $20,000 through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund to support the Owen Sound Little Theatre," said Miller. "I congratulate the Owen Sound Little Theatre on their hard work to ensure that arts, culture and heritage in Owen Sound remain an integral part of the community."
