phrag-featThe Kelso Beach pond is scheduled to be cleaned next week (between September 12 to 16).

An invasion of phragmites has clogged the pond and will require the excavation of much of the soil accompanying the grass reeds. To respect the environment and allow proper dewatering of the excavated material prior to disposal, it will be placed next to the pond until it has sufficiently dried before it is removed by trucks.

This disturbance in the park may appear unattractive but is a temporary measure as a means to protect our watershed and environment.
