The subject will be discussed at the March 4 Corporate Services Committee.

Dear Mayor Boddy and Council Members:

At the January 11th, 2017 OSDIA (Owen Sound Downtown Improvement Area) Board of Management meeting we were brought up to date n the current Downtown parking enforcement policies by the City's By-law Coordinator, Jeff Smith.  The members of the Board were encouraged to hear that changes have been made to make enforcement more "consumer friendly".  However, there is one aspect of enforcement we hope Council will see fit to adjust.

The current policy allows for parking enforcement during the weekday hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It is the OSDIA's hope that the enforcement hours can be changed to 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The OSDIA receives many complaints, especially from restaurant  patrons, that they've received tickets at 5:55 p.m. after they've gone into an establishment for dinner and haven't realized that enforcement is still in effect.   It is our hope that this change would make shopping and dining in the Downtown a more user-friendly experience.

Thank you for your consideration in making this change.

Chair, David Parsons Owen Sound Downtown Improvement Area
