In 2016, City Council approved a partnership between the City and the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer for an accessible washroom and changeroom facility at Kelso Beach Park in the vicinity of The Good Cheer Splash Pad.

The Scenic City Order of Good Cheer is a local not-for-profit organization comprised of a group of dedicated community-minded individuals. They have raised approximately $1.5 million in the past 25 years in support of community projects. Past projects include:

· Eastside Boat Launch Ramp and Building

· Inner Harbour walkway benches

· Gazebo at Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre

· Good Cheer Outdoor Artificial Ice Rink at Harrison Park

· The Good Cheer Splash Pad at Kelso Beach Park

The City of Owen Sound and Scenic City Order of Good Cheer understand the value of accessibility for all. The Good Cheer Splash Pad is accessible and promotes integration, independence and inclusion for individuals of all abilities by providing a place where everyone can participate. The Good Cheer Washroom & Changeroom is an important addition to Kelso Beach Park to help maximize the use of the splash pad and ensure that all people can use the facility. Some highlights of this facility include automatic door openers, baby change tables in both male and female sections, grab bars and accessible features throughout, screening walls for privacy, and an asphalt walkway leading to the facility.

The City of Owen Sound appreciates the continued contribution of the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer to the well-being of the community.
