The City of Owen Sound in partnership with Molson Canadian announced four recipients of the Canada 150 Molson Canadian Community Leader Award at their council meeting this evening.

The City of Owen Sound and Molson Canadian would like to congratulate Mr. Blaine Courtney, Mrs. Verona Jackson, Mr. Lyle Love and Mr. Fred Wallace on being recognized for the positive impact they have had on this community.

Molson Canadian representative Geoff Blastorah stated, "We were seeking Canadians who have  made a difference in communities from coast to coast to coast. Molson Canadian wants to celebrate their achievement and the 'Canadian character' they have demonstrated."

The four winners, who are all well-known for their charitable work and contribution to the Owen Sound community were nominated for the award by the Canada 150th and Owen Sound 160th Celebration Ad Hoc Committee and approved by Owen Sound Council.

"Blaine Courtney, Verona Jackson, Lyle Love and Fred Wallace are all leading examples of the positive impact that citizens can have on a community," said Mayor Ian Boddy. "These four citizens have given a tremendous amount of time, knowledge and care into making our community a better place and are worthy of our thanks and recognition."
