smoke alarmsOwen Sound Fire and Emergency Services will begin their annual Home Visitation and Assistance Program on May 1, 2018.

This voluntary program is performed by the on-duty firefighters and allows homeowners the opportunity to have their home inspected for life safety devices such as smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. This program also provides homeowners the opportunity to ask questions of the firefighters.

"The home visitation and assistance program has been very successful," said Fire Chief, Doug Barfoot. "The firefighters will ensure working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms are present in the home where required and answer any questions the homeowner may have in regards to home fire safety and life safety."

The 2018 campaign will see Fire and Emergency services focus in the South East portion of the City. Firefighters will be visiting homes in the area south of 10th Street East and east of 2nd Avenue East. The program is voluntary for homeowners. The program hours will be 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings as well as Saturday afternoons.

If a resident does not live in the area being canvassed but would like an inspection by our firefighters to discuss their home fire safety and life safety, please contact the fire department at 519-376-2512 to schedule an inspection.
