salmon celebrationThe City of Owen Sound will be hosting the annual Salmon Celebration this Sunday, September 30th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Harrison Park.

The Salmon Celebration is hosted by the City of Owen Sound in partnership with the GSCA, At Last Adventures, the Sydenham Sportsmen's Association, Georgian College Culinary program and Sabitri's Global Cuisine.

The event, held on the Island at Harrison Park just north of the Picnic Shelter includes:

· Salmon Tasting courtesy of Georgian College and Sabitri's (donation to Georgian College Culinary program

· On-site interpretation and education courtesy of the GSCA and Foundation

o Kids who complete the interpretation/education portion will receive a free round of Mini Golf at the Putt n' Paddle!

· 1km kids "Salmon Run" to launch the festivities at 1:00 PM. Kids are encouraged to sign up at 12:45 PM.

· Kids Crafts courtesy of At Last Adventures

· Face Painting for kids by Laura Lee with a donation to the GSCA and Foundation

"Spawning season is a pivotal time of year for the salmon and we are pleased that our partners can participate in the Salmon Celebration and educate people on the life cycle of the salmon in a fun and meaningful way," stated Brent Fisher, Manager of Community Development and Marketing.
