We heard this discussed in a meeting in the council chamber – raised by Councillor Scott Greig whose running group had already come across this hazard. Today we saw it for ourselves, and it is every bit an accident-waiting-to-happen as it was described.

They are the new borders around the landscaping material on the south side of city hall.
Slabs of metal, edge on. Square cut.

Think of the possibilities for not seeing this and tripping forward or back. Dusk, umbrellas, crowds or just clumsiness. The person who took the photos for us commented, “Drop a melon on that corner, and see how deep it cuts. Someone didn't think about safety when they decided to do this.”

We know it is on the radar of city staff. Let's hope there is some pro-active work done before someone is hurt.
