10th street westAs part of the “Horseshoe” Watermain Upgrade project, please be advised that 10th Street West will be closed from 6th Avenue West to 2nd Avenue West on Monday, May 6, 2019. The closure will begin at 7:00 AM, the road is expected to reopen by 10:00 PM.

Detour 1 (truck traffic) will begin at 10th Street West & Alpha Street and rerouted:

- Alpha Street to 14th Street West
- Easterly to 2nd Avenue West
- Back to 10th Street West

Detour 2 will begin at 10th Street West & 8th Avenue West and rerouted:

- Southerly on 8th Avenue West
- Easterly on 9th Street West to 2nd Avenue West
- Back to 10th Street West

The City of Owen Sound has awarded the “Horseshoe” Watermain Upgrade project to MacDonnell Excavating. Construction will commence Thursday, May 2nd. Construction activities are expected to be completed throughout the summer of 2019.

The work will include:

Replacing existing watermain in the 900 Block of 2nd Avenue West, 900 Block of 3rd Avenue West and the 200 block of 9th Street West.
Installing new watermain in the 900 Block of 1st Avenue East.

The work is required to provide adequate water supply for domestic use and fire protection for the future and during the 10th Street Bridge reconstruction in 2019/2020.

During construction, the “Horseshoe” roads will be closed to traffic and open to local and residential traffic. Notification of the closures will be posted on social media and on Municipal 511.
