climatedeputationA full house of local citizens from babies to grandmothers were out at City Council to support a call for climate action.   From the Climate Action Team Grey-Bruce report on the event: report on the event:

"Bravo to Fridays for Future BGOS on their presentation to Owen Sound city council this evening. Kudos to council for responding so positively.

After the presentation from Fridays for Future, led by environmental scientist Sonja Ostertag and 6 youth, Councillor Richard Thomas made this motion, which council unanimously approved, requesting:

“a staff report detailing actions we might take to deal with climate change including a suggested course of action entailing how we  could meet the United Nations emission targets of 45% reduction by 2030 and zero by 2050.”

Next step is the Climate Action Team's proposal on January 14th to the city's Operations Committee for a Task Force to create a climate action plan to coordinate with the city's upcoming review of their strategic plan."
