fountainpen fullJeez, I wish we lived in a perfect world. However, in a democracy going along to get along is at times an absolute necessity. Otherwise everyone would have their own unique view of the world and nobody would be able to get anywhere. Many times I have said to myself, I'm not happy with that but grudgingly having to admit that at least it solved the problem. "Should we tell Grandma we put her dog down or shall we just say it died."

If I was to "tell my truth", I would say, " Hey Grandma, they killed your dog."

If someone was to go to SNC Lavalin and say, "This is the last time! Any more of this poop and you are done like dinner!", and if they meant it, that would be good enough for me.

It could be that realistically you cannot compete on a world scale for construction contracts without getting involved directly or indirectly in money going to the wrong people. For that matter look at all the foreign aid money that appears to be going astray.

If Canada wants to be goody goody so be it but it will come at some expense. (The same goes with levies to reduce carbon dioxide.)

Now if we were a dictatorship with Jody WR in charge, and she had the army behind her, I would not put on my yellow vest. However I would sooner be in a dysfunctional democracy. Finally some aphorisms.
"To do good, first you have to get elected."

"This too shall pass."
