mailboxYesterday I asked The Book Depository, UK, how long it would take their book shipment to get to Owen Sound.

Their reply - 25 to 35 days- shocked me. They also attached the following list:

SHIPPING FROM THE UK:
Australia 5-8 days, Hong Kong 5-9days, New Zealand 5-10, Europe 4-8, USA 5-8, CANADA 25-35, Brazil 10-15, Malaysia 10-20 days. All other countries 7-10 days.

When I asked for the reason why Canada is by far the slowest, they replied that they can get the book to Toronto in 3 days but the Canadian customs are struggling with the inflow.

Recently, a letter from Italy took 23 days to arrive.

And much worse: A few months ago I sent two letters by airmail to my native Slovenia. One arrived after 8 weeks but the other, with an old family photo inside, never made it.

It looks like the 1492 Columbus, with his 24 meters long sailboat Santa Maria, would have a fair chance to beat Canada Post of 2019 in a race a across Atlantic.

My question: have you experienced problems with Canada Post or am I just a very 'lucky' one?
