booksWest Grey Library is welcoming patrons and visitors to two of its branches: Neustadt (Thursdays, 12 to 5 pm) and Ayton (Tuesdays, 2-7 pm). Durham Branch will be closed starting August 9th to replace its floors, with no curbside or dropbox services or access to the collection housed in Durham available. Items, including summer reading program logs may be returned and items, including Grab & Go craft bags, picked up at the Ayton and Neustadt branches.

Children and youth up to 18 can still be part of the TD Summer Reading Program; register with [email protected]. The Explore West Grey scavenger hunt is running to August 31, a chance for families to learn more about West Grey – request a brochure through [email protected] and plan an outing or two! And check out the Library’s Facebook and Instagram accounts for also weekly LEGO challenges for kids and weekly Teen Book Quizzes.

The StoryWalk is returning to Ayton at the library building on August 1st, and will also be at Neustadt Lions Community Park. Kids 5 and up are having a blast with the Library’s Grab & Go Bags, with a new craft each week until August 20th, first-come, first-served while supplies last. For adults, join Master Gardener Vicky Thompson and colleague Jennifer Deeks for the Library’s Zoom session: Native Plants for Home Gardens, Thursday, 19 August at 1 pm, for great info on how to use these beautiful plants. And on August 26th at 4:30 pm, the Library hosts Back to School Mental Health for the Whole Family, a Zoom session with Jackie Ralph, Supervisor, Youth Awareness & Education at Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce, aimed at parents who want to support their children’s mental health and their own, as students get ready to return to in-person classes.

The Library’s Summer Book Bingo continues until September 3rd. Get your card now and get reading to fill in the squares and get yourself a bingo! And Roaming Readers continues, now along the shady riverbank in Durham; next ramble is on August 26, starting at 2 from the Durham branch, rain or shine. Walk all or part of the route. The Library is launching Menstruation Stations, offering free feminine hygiene products to the nearly 1 in 4 women in Grey Bruce who can’t always afford supplies, starting with Ayton and Neustadt branches. The Library is developing partnerships with Foodland in Durham and It’s Personal. Period., a Grey-Bruce non-profit for this initiative. Donations of unopened feminine hygiene products can be left at any branch through the drop box or in person at open branches.
