Leith United Church is celebrating this weekend, commemorating 150 years of the building, and the 151st anniversary of its establishment as a Church of Scotland (Auld Kirk) congregation. The beautiful pre-Confederation building has been restored thanks to the work of the Friends of Leith Church, and its church grounds contain the graves of Grey County pioneer families and Leith's famous son, artist Tom Thomson.

Saturday, August 1 from 10 until 3, the 12th Annual Country Market will feature plants and produce, artists, music and storytellers, historic displays anda self-directed tour of the surrounding community.
Bring your blanket or chair for the outdoor Ceilidh (kay-lee) at 7 featuring Daniel Carr, world champion highland dancer and piper, the Grey Highlands Pipe Band, and My Sweet Patootie, "a sassy modern vaudeville, roots and ragtime trio".

Sunday the church will remember its roots at a worship service, followed by "Lunch Under the Oak".
The whole weekend celebration is open and free, though you are welcome to make a donation to the future of this historic place.
