During the first week of July, seven dancers from the Dawn Brennan Sutter School of Dance in Chatworth had top 10 placings in many different events at the ScotDance Canada Championship Series in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

There were a record number of 988 dancers from across the world competing at all levels under the sharp eyes of judges from Scotland, Australia, United States and Canada.

During the Choreography Team competition, the DBS dancers placed 7th over all, out of 11 groups, in their category. Their number Breylawden Reels showcased dancers Krystina Spencer, Skylar Cosby, Daniella Spencer, Leeann Roney, Abby Folmer & Renayla Campbell.

Individual placings for the dancers, from the small studio in Chatsworth, showed how well they had trained and prepared for this high level event.

In Beginners 10, Krystina placed 3rd in the Sword.

In Novice 13 & under 15, Daniella won the Nationals Class Trophy by placing 1st in the Lilt, & 2nd in both the Seann Triubhas & Flora. She also placed 2nd in the Hullachan & 3rd in the Sword, 5th overall the Special Highland Fling.

In Intermediate 10 & under, Skylar won the Nationals Class trophy by placing 1st in both the Lilt & Flora, & 8th in the Seann Triubhas. She also placed 8th in the Sword, & 2nd overall in the Special Highland Fling.

In Intermediate 14 & under 16, Leeann placed 3rd in the Fling, 4th in the Hullachan, 6th in the Seann Triubhas, 7th in the Flora, 8th in the Sword, & 10th in the Lilt. She also placed 4th place overall in the Special Highland Fling.

In Intermediate 16 & over, Renayla won the Highland & the Nationals Class Trophies by placing 1st in the Fling, Hullachan, Seann Triubhas, Lilt & Flora, & 2nd in the Sword. She also placed 5th overall in the Special Highland Fling.

In Restricted Premier 17, Abby danced a personal best in her Nationals & Highland dances in a group of 30 dancers.

In Premier 20 & under 22, Kirsten won the Pre-Championship Class Trophy by placing 1st in the Fling, Sword & Strathspey, & 2nd in the Seann Triubhas.

This is a huge accomplishment for these dancers to compete amongst the best dancers in the world at this event.
