The Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation's Christmas Angel Campaign is underway. This year, it aims to help surgical patients  at the Hospital by upgrading vital signs monitors in the Surgical Recovery Room and other departments in the Hospital.

"200 patients have surgery at the Hospital every week," said Paul Weitendorf, Executive Director of the Foundation. "A key tool of the staff in caring for these patients is the vital signs monitor. These monitors track heart function, breathing and other vital signs of recovering patients to ensure that all is well in the critical time immediately after surgery."

Through the Christmas Angel Campaign, the Foundation is hoping to raise $300,000.

"Many people don't realize that while the government funds the operation of hospitals, little funding is provided formedical equipment," said Foundation Chairman, Neil McCutcheon. "It's only through the generous support of donors that we have a well-equipped hospital."

To make a donation, watch for the Foundation's letter in your mail or call and donate using your credit card. Call 519-372-3925 weekdays between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. Donations can also be made securely through oshfoundation.ca.

Donations to the Campaign are recognized on the Foundation's Angel Trees and Honour Rolls located at Heritage Place Shopping Centre and in the lobby of the Hospital.
