operation freezeYouth demonstrating positive actions, positive behaviour and showing acts of kindness toward others may earn themselves some well-deserved acknowledgment this summer. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is proud to be continuing its partnership with Mac's Convenience Stores across Ontario again this year for Operation Freeze 2016.

Locally, Grey County OPP officers will be on the lookout for youths doing positive things in the community. In participating in an act of kindness, the youth will receive a 'thank you' in the form of a "Positive Ticket" which will entitle them to a free Froster.

A youth may receive a "Positive Ticket" from an officer for a number of positive behaviours:

• doing a good deed

• participating in community activities;

• demonstrating community pride, example: picking up trash;

• deterring crime or observing school crossing rules; or

• as an "icebreaker" to establish a rapport with kids in their patrol area.

Officers can use the coupons in a 'positive' way to interact with young people in their area and build relationships that will last for years to come.
