reptilesThe Cabot Head Lighthouse will be busy with a couple of activities.

On Wednesday, July 20 at 4pm, there will be the Reptiles at Risk program. This project is a partnership between Scales Nature Park, Laurentian University, and the Canadian Herpetological Society. The project is funded through the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Species at Risk Stewardship Fund to provide educational programming.

The program will run in two parts, beginning with a 30-45 minute presentation about various native species. This is followed by a hands-on experience where the audience is given the opportunity to touch or hold live snakes and ask questions. Many of the species we use in our programs are species at risk in Ontario, and we feel that education is one way to ensure these animals will be present for future generations.

On Tuesday, July 25th at 11am, is the official unveiling of new interpretive signage. There will be many in attendance including the mayor, FOCH board members, GREEN Co-ordinator and staff.
