Thanks again to Liz Zetlin for keeping our minds on the alternatives to plastic this month. (And for the photos.)

"Day 6 Plastic Challenge awards go to Casero Kitchen Table - every table gets served cool tap water (without having to ask), and it's takeoutreplenished frequently. Their take out containers are recyclable - no styrofoam orplastic! Way to go Casero! And the food is fabulous!"

Day 6 Plastic Challenge quiz -
1. What is  61 ft high, 64 ft wide, 74 ft long and weighs 1, 250 pounds (of mostly plastic) , and is currently visiting Owen Sound?
2. What is really the largest and the most abundant duck in the world, reaches 20 to 26 inches in length and weighs up to 3 pounds?

Day 7 Plastic Challenge TAP IS TOPS Award goes to – drum roll please – the Owen Sound Police and in particular to Auxiliary Constable Jessica Brown, who volunteers for community events. She loves doing it, she says. Without all the auxiliary constable volunteers that were here today, things like this bike parade for kids wouldn't happen, as it would be too expensive to have OS police doing this.

Jessica brings a refillable water bottle with her most places. They did have single use plastic bottles at this festival event, so here's hoping next time, everyone brings refillables and there is a place to refill them. (Tip – most stores will do that, if you ask).

The police gave awards for the best decorated bike, the best posture and hand signals and repurposing stuff for bike decorations. Congratulations to all the kids and the police too.
