shineramaGeorgian Owen Sound Campus students raise funds for cystic fibrosis research at Shinerama on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017.

Owen Sound Campus students take part in Shinerama, an annual fundraising event for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. They will be shining shoes, cars, and "anything that can be shined" in return for donations at 20 different locations. This is the 36th year Georgian has been involved in Shinerama.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults; at the present time there is no cure. CF causes various effects on the body, but mainly affects the digestive system and lungs.

The Shinerama event will take place Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be opening event at the Owen Sound campus at 9 a.m., with the students heading to Heritage Place Mall for car wash activities from 10 until 4 p.m.

As part of a partnership, Georgian students will also be shining boots for members of the Owen Sound Police and Fire services.
