Nadia DanylukThe Board and Staff of the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library is pleased to announce that Nadia Danyluk has been appointed Deputy Chief Librarian, effective today.

Nadia Danyluk has been successful in the role of Youth Services Librarian for 10 years. Over that period a major focus of her role has been on creating more youth opportunities within the library and working to develop new programs. Among these are the establishment of a Teen Advisory Group, the Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival and the Owen Sound Mini Comicon. In 2015 Nadia was recognized as the Children and Youth Services Librarian of the Year by the Ontario Public Library Association. She has also been an occasional contributor on the CBC's Ontario Morning with Wei Chen sharing suggestions for great books on a variety of topics.

Nadia Danyluk graduated York University with an Honours Bachelor in English literature and fine art in 2004. Following that she was awarded a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario in 2006. She spent her first year working as the Children's Librarian at the Woodbridge branch of the Vaughan Public Library and was hired as the Youth Services Librarian at the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library in 2007.

Along with her husband, Gareth Lloyd and cat Poe, Nadia calls Owen Sound her home. In her spare-time she enjoys spending time outside making the most of this beautiful part of the world, especially days spent hiking on the Bruce Trail. An amateur musician, she enjoys playing guitar and ukulele, and hopes to one day expand her musical repertoire to include the banjo.

Chief Librarian and CEO, Tim Nicholls Harrison is delighted that Nadia Danyluk has accepted the promotion and looks forward to working with her in her new role.

"Nadia brings exemplary library skills, an ability to build and support capacity in others, and a demonstrated commitment to community education and development. I am excited about what can be accomplished together," said Nicholls Harrison.

Board Chair, Councilor Richard Thomas, said, "The position of Deputy Chief Librarian is one with a long tradition at the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library. We were pleased to reinstate it as part of ongoing restructuring at the library. Nadia Danyluk is a worthy successor. The Board looks forward to working with Nadia in the years ahead."
