toysLittle Sweethearts and their caregivers are invited for birthday cake on Valentine's Day February 14th from 2-3 pm, at the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library to celebrate the Toy Yard's 40 years of existence!

Still popular and well used, the toy yard opened February 14th, 1978. A Canada Works grant at the time enabled additional staff to be hired for a year to work on the new initiative.

Toy yard visits promote emerging literacy skills and encourage family and community interaction. In addition to the toy yard, Story times and circulating books, today preschool children can also borrow iPads with preschool games for use within the library, borrow toy kits, family games and have access to digital services.

The Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library is a place hundreds of caregivers and children come each week to play, socialize, borrow movies, music and read together.
