Six at Six will shine a light on six inspiring women who contributed to the culture, community and history of Owen Sound. Local historian Aly Boltman takes guests on a tour of Greenwood Cemetery, weaving tales of the remarkable women whose graves are situated in this sublime sanctuary. A remarkable part of Lupercalia 2018.
Starting in the mausoleum promptly at 6 p.m. this evening (Friday, February 16) with Melba Morris Croft, we will leave our tracks in the Greenwood snow to visit the resting place of Annie Jaffray Eaton, Mary Miller, Christy Ann Morrison Fleming, Mary Stevens Doyle and Marion Fields Wyllie. The tour will end at the sole tombstone in Greenwood's Potter's Field, parting ways with an interactive homage to the hundreds of women and girls and infants who have gone to their graves nameless and nearly completely forgotten.
To celebrate Lupercalia's 6th anniversary, burn some candle wax while strolling through Greenwood Cemetery to shine a light on the lives of six spectacular women integral to Owen Sound's cultural history.
Please bring a candle in a glass globe (if possible) and/or a flashlight, dress warmly and wear appropriate footwear. The tour is largely outdoors and will last one hour or less. Please meet outside the Mausoleum at 6 pm.
