heritage fair captionThe 11th Annual Grey Roots Regional Heritage Fair took place Thursday, April 19 at Grey Roots Museum & Archives.
The Regional Heritage Fair inspires students to celebrate heritage by sharing their projects on local, regional, or national history. Participants research Canadian heroes,
milestones, and achievements and present their stories as detailed projects.

Participating schools send the top student projects from grades 4 to 8 to represent their school at the Regional Fair.

This year's fair featured over 45 participants from seven schools, each with a robust project featuring an aspect of Canadian history.

"We had a great range of topics this year," said Laura Arnold, Regional Heritage Fair Coordinator. "There was a wide variety of well researched projects, which made it
challenging to select award recipients."

The projects were adjudicated by a team of fifteen volunteers, who spent the day meeting with participants and learning about their topics. Awards were presented at a ceremony at the end of the day. Five successful delegates will move on to present their work at the Provincial Showcase in Toronto:

 Brennan Martin, Japanese Canadian Internment in World War 2, Grade 7, École Port Elgin-Saugeen Central School
 Drew Nielsen, Robert Munsch, Grade 7, École Port Elgin-Saugeen Central School
 Aidan Playfair, Louis Riel: Hero or Traitor?, Grade 6, École Port Elgin-Saugeen Central School
 Kaylie Walsh, Maple Syrup, École Grade 6, Port Elgin-Saugeen Central School
