santaSanta held an official press conference at the North Pole, this past Saturday. Reporters from around the world gathered to hear the official word from the jolly old elf himself.

When asked about his plans to visit the local area, Santa replied that this will be his 25th year at Sulphur Spring Conservation Area. “They supply me with my very own igloo”, reported Santa. “You can’t ask for any more than that! In addition, they always treat my reindeer with the greatest of care!”

Although his schedule is extremely busy at this time of year, Santa said he will be on hand for all three days of the event, November 23 (5 – 10pm), 24 (2 – 10pm), and 25th (2 – 7pm). One reporter asked what made this location so special? “I truly enjoy the park setting”, Santa replied. “There’s something about celebrating Christmas amongst tree-lined pathways lit by hundreds of candle lanterns and thousands of lights that makes this truly special” said Santa. “I feel very much at home!”

Alabaster Snowball, Santa’s Chief Elf stated that the event provides a combination of activities that he has rarely seen before. “They include horse-drawn wagon rides, cookie decorating, crafts, free hot apple cider, horse rides, an animal barn, train rides, motorized duck rides, story-telling, and so much more! They even provide visitors with an opportunity to get warm at the Christmas Café complete with homemade cookies, hot out of the oven. I’ve never seen so much good cheer!”

Admission for the event is $10.00 per adult, $3.00 for kids and pre-schoolers are free. Please note that this is an event held in a natural area and therefore uneven terrain could be experienced.

On Thursday enjoy a drive-thru lights only from 6 – 8pm. Admission for this is $3.00 / person or maximum $10.00 per car.

One local reporter asked Santa if the event is a fundraiser. Santa stated that yes, indeed, the good folks at Saugeen Conservation put all proceeds to good use implementing local conservation projects. “They’re big on trees” reported Santa!

Just as the press conference was wrapping up, there was a great commotion at the back of the room. All reporters turned to find a tall green character looking rather irritable and demanding to know when he could expect something for Christmas?” Santa, always the gentlemen, responded without skipping a beat “why, when your heart grows three sizes in one day!”
