head scarecrowIt’s official. Marilyn Morris, our cherished leader whose community spirit has inspired hundreds of volunteers for the past two decades, has announced her retirement as Head Scarecrow of the Meaford Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival.

No doubt, it has not been an easy decision for Marilyn, and not one that she made without first assuring herself that the Meaford Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival was in good hands.

And in good hands it is.

The Meafood Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival executive is pleased to announce the appointment of Donna Earl as Event Chair. Donna has assumed responsibility for leading the executive and committees in an administrative role and is actively recruiting a volunteer to take on some of the public relations responsibilities that have in the past been part of the Head Scarecrow’s role.

Now its 23rd year, the scarecrow invasion has evolved from a small-town community celebration to a widely-acclaimed event that has never lost the down-home feel that visitors find so appealing. The continued success of the invasion is a credit to Marilyn. For two decades, Marilyn’s community spirit has inspired volunteers to join her in creating an event that draws visitors to Meaford from across Canada and internationally. Her administrative and leadership skills have lent structure to the Meaford Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival to ensure its ongoing success year after year.
