houses safe communitySouthern Bruce County will becomes the 69th community to achieve Parachute Canada’s Safe Communities designation. A celebration to mark the event is set for:

12:30 pm, Thurs, June 6, Walkerton Clean Water Centre, 20 Ontario Rd, Walkerton

Representatives from Parachute Canada, Ontario Provincial Police and the Southern Bruce County Safe Communities Committee along with local dignitaries and mayors will attend. A special Safe Communities key and certificate will be presented to recognize this designation. Following the ceremony, an interactive Safe Kids Week event will be hosted for local elementary school students.

The Southern Bruce County Safe Communities Committee has been working for several years to meet the requirements of a designated community. The committee developed a “Pocket Your Keys” social media campaign, established “Safe Internet Exchange” sites and hosted events during National Teen Driver Safety Week at local high schools.

Southern Bruce County Safe Communities is a partnership of organizations in the municipalities of Arran-Elderslie, Brockton, Huron-Kinloss, Kincardine, Saugeen Shores and South Bruce who support community safety and injury prevention.
