BrucePower BlockParty 2018Bruce Power is trading in its water wings for midway rides and a circus show as it shifts its annual summer party from the beach to Kincardine’s Davidson Centre this year. The company’s 16th annual summer party will be held Saturday, July 20, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the community is invited for a fun-filled day of free rides, entertainment and treats.

“We enjoy such tremendous support and this is our way of thanking the community, our employees, and celebrating summer in beautiful Bruce County,” said David Abbott, Bruce Power’s Director of Community & Indigenous Relations. “We hope people from all across the county will come to Kincardine and enjoy the many activities we have planned.”

The Bruce Power Block Party will feature a free family midway and inflatables, face painting, and performances by the Zacada Circus Show, which is operated by former Cirque du Soleil artists and features hand balancers, acrobats, and aerialists.

The circus shows will be held in the Davidson Centre on the arena floor at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. with limited seating for each show, so plan to arrive early. The free midway rides and inflatables get underway at 11 a.m. and free carnival snacks will be offered starting at noon, while quantities last.

There are also free public swims from noon-1 p.m., 2-3 p.m. and 4-5 p.m. The day of fun will be capped off with fireworks on the beach at dusk.

There will be no parking available at the Davidson Centre so shuttle buses will be running from five different locations including Bruce Power’s MCR Training Facility at 380 Gary St., Kincardine District Secondary School at 885 River Lane (corner of Durham Street), Huron Heights Public School at 785 Russell St., Kincardine Curling Club at 277 Penetangore Row, and Bruce Power’s Training Centre at 705 Princes St.
