Examine Canada’s rich military history with an exclusive private guided tour of the Military Museum and Air Annex at Base Borden on Monday, Sept. 16.

Presented by the Billy Bishop Home and Museum, this excursion by luxury motor coach to an active military base will allow visitors to see everything from horse-drawn vehicles of the First World War to articles from the Space Age. Items from the Second World War, Korea, Peacekeeping missions and other more recent conflicts are all part of what is on display.

Base Borden houses one of the largest military museums in Canada. The collection of weapons, uniforms, aircraft, uniforms, war mementos and military vehicles are housed in three large indoor warehouses and on the grounds.

All three branches of the military are represented: Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy, and Royal Canadian Air Force.

A special part of the tour will be a stop at the Base Borden Legacy Monument.

Tickets are $60 a person, ages 12 and up. That includes transportation, donation admission to the museum and a private guided tour. The tour will also take visitors into areas not usually seen on a regular visit. Bus will leave the parking lot at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre at 8 a.m., returning by 6 p.m.

Bring your own lunch or purchase lunch on the base at the Vickers or Curtiss Dining Hall.

Registration and payment in advance is required by Sept. 7, 2019. Call the Billy Bishop Home and Museum at 519-371-0031 to reserve your spot or email [email protected]
