What happens when the small business owners of our community, the mom and pop shops, have a crisis? Everyone who has run a business of their own knows that there are both joys and challenges. And there is always the “what if...?” of being unable to work. No benefits, no coverage from the government.

Shelley Curley, owner of Awesome Blossoms in downtown Owen Sound has been in that position since she became very ill in December. Paul, her husband, is on long term disability and unable to work with medical concerns of his own. Shelley's daughter Angela has been caring for the flower shop and for her mother at home. Shelley is currently in London at the Victoria Hospital with kidney and liver issues.

There are expenses of course - expensive prescriptions plus living expenses with neither Paul nor Shelley able to work.

Shelley is is a proud member of the Quota Club and her Red Hat Ladies. She is well known for her contributions to the city and its residents, and now A GoFundMe campaign has been started and friends, customers and recipients of the kindness of Paul and Shelley are invited to return the generosity.

We wish Shelley all the best for a return to good health.
