Today (October 14th, 2019) kicks off the second annual week of Love Owen Sound. 6 Days, 6 Free events for our city and surrounding areas.
Love Owen Sound is a group effort between eleven local churches (up from eight last year) to bring joy to the city we love and call home.
Here is a rundown of this years events:
(TODAY) Monday, October 14th: Free Skate at the Julie McArthur Arena (YMCA). 2-4pm. Come skate off the turkey together with friends.
Tuesday, October 15th: Free Kids Egg Drop Contest at South End Church (400 2nd Ave SE). 6-8pm. Children 12 and under are asked to build and bring a contraption made of any material that can keep an egg safe from a 35 foot drop off the peak of the building. Kids with eggs that survive the drop will have their names entered into a draw for a new CCM Mountain Bike. Weather permitting, there will also be a bouncy castle and pony rides for younger children.
Wednesday, October 16th: Free Family Movie Night at Owen Sound Alliance Church (440 7th Ave East) . Come see the new Toy Story 4 movie while enjoying free popcorn and refreshments for the whole family. Doors open at 6:30pm. Movies starts at 7pm.
Thursday, October 17th: Free Beginner Guitar Lesson at The Xchange building downtown (825 2nd Ave E, the old Meridian Bank) from 6:30-8pm. Limited to 20 spaces, this event features a single class in a large group environment. Each student will be provided with a guitar and their own personal instructor for the session. This event was a blast last year! All ages welcome. Parents a free to join the class with their children. Please contact Greg to book your lesson: 519-477-2110. Friday, October 18th: Random Acts of Kindness Day. Look for ways to show love in unexpected ways to friends, family & total strangers today. Need ideas? www.randomactsofkindness.org/kindness-ideas
Saturday, October 19th: Free Yardwork & Minor Home Repair from 11am-4pm. Caring for a property can become overwhelming for a variety of reasons. Do you know an individual or family that could benefit from lawn care, raking, gutter cleaning, vine cutting or even some minor home repair? We’re willing to take on the toughest of yards.
