east ridge fooddriveLast week, at Alexandra Elementary, the Home of the Eagles, we had our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.

This event gave our staff and students the opportunity to consider the needs of those in our community who are less fortunate and to take action to help out. Greg Courage and his grade 5/6 class organized our food drive and they encouraged some healthy competition by awarding the Food Drive Cup (and the sweet treats that go with it) to the class that brought in the most food items.

The grade 5/6 class collected data throughout the week to track the progress of each homeroom. Although it was close, grade 5/6 ended up winning the cup this year by bringing in 257 food items. By the end of the week, our entire school had collected 1106 non-perishable food items.

We are very proud of our school family for their efforts during our Thanksgiving Food Drive and for the difference they make in our community. Way to work, Eagles!
