The United Way of Bruce Grey today announced that $107,652.00 has been distributed to date to victims of the devastating fire in Owen Sound on August 10.

The United Way also announced that two area insurance professionals have volunteered their time and expertise to participate in the process developed to assist fire victims. The volunteer experts are Rob Allan, a 30-year insurance veteran who recently retired from Nicol Insurance; and Brian Glass, a former Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association executive member who spent his career as a loss adjuster and claims manager.

Mr. Glass and Mr. Allan join United Way volunteer chair Dave Myette and Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn on a working committee to review claimant loss lists and approve the release of funds in a timely and responsible process.

To date, community donations have reached $295,000 in an unprecedented response to victims of the tragic fire.

"We are delighted that Brian and Rob have answered the community call to provide independent, professional expertise to help the fire victims," said Ms. Dobbyn. "Their experience in the insurance industry is vital to the process."

The United Way remains committed to provide the community and donors with a progress reports as funds are disbursed.
