OS-Policesept-fullThe Owen Sound Police Service has charged two men with criminal offences relating to Street Racing for their involvement in a motor vehicle collision on Friday February 17, 2017.

The charges come after an investigation of a multiple vehicle collision that saw two men air-lifted to Toronto and London hospitals for treatment and other persons sent to Grey Bruce Health Centre in Owen Sound. The collision closed the 10th Street hill for most of the day while officers investigated the crash scene.

Investigation has revealed that the drivers of a red Chevrolet Malibu and blue KIA Rio were racing westbound on 10th Street East down the east hill, when one of the drivers left their lane at a high rate of speed. This driver collided with an oncoming eastbound vehicle. The impact set off a chain reaction of collisions that later required the Owen Sound Fire Services to physically extract some of the involved persons from a vehicle.

The driver of the blue KIA fled the accident scene after the collision. As a result of our investigation, two 18 year old Grey County men will appear before courts at 611 9th Ave E, Owen Sound on Thursday April 6, 2017 at 10:00 am to face charges of:
