fire-chat-fullOn May 9, 2017 at approximately 1:02 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), together with the Municipality of Grey Highlands Fire Department, responded to a fire at a residence on Napoleon Street, Eugenia, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

Investigation revealed that a pot of cooking oil was left unattended on the stove. As a result, the room became engulfed in flames.

The occupants, a 31 year old male, two women ages 47 and 27, and a 7 month old infant fled the residence without injury. The family pets including two dogs and a cat perished.

The Grey Highlands Fire Department is investigating, although the fire is not deemed suspicious.
