On Thursday May 18, 2017, at approximately 4:00 p.m. a man entered a residence in the 200 block of 10th Street East through an unlocked door. Once inside, the 34 year old Barrie, Ontario man went to the second level the two storey home to look for valuables.
He gathered up one laptop computer and while he was in the process of stealing a second computer, the residents returned home. The man had no other means of escape, so he climbed to the roof and jumped down to the ground hurting his ankle during the fall.
Police searched the area for the man and after a short investigation they apprehended the suspect and located the computer that he had stolen.

The man was transported to the hospital for treatment and has since been held in custody relating to the following offences:
Fail to Comply Probation (3 counts) Fail to Comply with Recognizance Break and Enter and Theft Possession of property Obtained by Crime ( 2 counts )
