OS-Policesept-fullThe Owen Sound Police are investigating a motor vehicle collision in which the driver failed to remain at the scene. On Friday morning at approximately 1:10 a.m. the Communications Centre received multiple 911 calls about a motor vehicle striking a guardrail on the Eddie Sargent Parkway and fleeing the scene.

The investigation revealed that a Hyundai sedan was south bound in the 1800 block of the Eddie Sargent Parkway when the driver lost control, crossed the north bound lanes and struck the guardrail on the east side of the roadway.

The vehicle received extensive damage and the driver continued to drive the vehicle to a parking lot in the area of 1st Avenue West where the vehicle became inoperable and was abandoned. Witnesses reported to police that a male driver was observed exiting the vehicle and walking from the scene. Officers arrived on scene within minutes but were unable to locate the driver.

There was no indication of injury to the driver who was believed to be alone in the vehicle at the time. Police are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact Owen Sound Police or Crime Stoppers.
