Community-foundation-GB-fullCommunity Foundation Grey Bruce hosted a celebration of sharing last evening, Thursday May 25th, at the Klages Mill in Chesley, Ontario. The Foundation distributed $302,000 to 118 charities and not-profits from across the region. Representatives from a variety of organizations were present to pick up their cheques and to share their stories. All of the recipients expressed gratitude to the organizations, individuals and families that have generously invested in the future of Grey and Bruce counties by endowing funds and legacy gifts with the Foundation.

There was a wide scope of meaningful community projects receiving support from development of Junior Achievement programs in Grey Bruce schools to a Trades Start program in Wiarton providing youth-at-risk with job skills and certification to a Tooth Fairy project to provide toothbrushes in United Way backpacks. This diversity reflects the breadth of community activities in arts, culture, sports, education, environment and wellness that make Grey and Bruce counties a vibrant place to live.

Joan Eaglesham, Chair of the Board of Community Foundation Grey Bruce, says "This event is always inspiring! Our donors are helping so many in need across Grey Bruce. And it's heartening to see the appreciation of the agencies and organizations that receive Community Foundation funds. To paraphrase our new catchphrase, "We're definitely here for good!"

Created in 1994, the Community Foundation Grey Bruce has a mandate to strengthen Grey and Bruce communities through endowment building, grant making and community partnerships.
