opp-crimescene-fullOn July 20, 2017 at approximately 11:51 p.m., Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police attended a residence on Jewel Bridge Road in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula after the home owner reported that someone had shot his dog.

Around 11:30 p.m. the family pet dog, a 13 year old Terrier/Chihuahua, was let outside to relieve itself. When the dog failed to return after a few minutes, the owner went to investigate as to its whereabouts. The dog was located deceased in the laneway. The dog had been shot in the chest with a small calibre firearm.

Police believe this was a crime of opportunity.
