beer-fullMotorist reports on impaired driver.

On Saturday October 28th, 2017 at approximately 10:00 p.m. the Owen Sound Police received a call from a motorist following a driver into the city who was suspected of possibly being impaired. The caller stayed on the telephone with the police dispatch and was able to provide further details as they continued to maintain view of the vehicle. It so happened that officers had prior set up a R.I.D.E on the Eddie Sargent Parkway to check drivers sobriety. This driver came directly upon the R.I.D.E at which time officers found the 47 year old driver to be operating his 2003 Pontiac Grand Am impaired by the consumption of alcohol.

The male driver, the lone occupant in the vehicle was arrested by police without incident. The area resident was found to have over two and a half times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. He is to appear on November 9th, 2017 in the Owen Sound Court for criminal charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol in his Blood. Along with charges the drivers vehicle has been impound for a period of 7 days and his driver's licence automatically suspended for 90 days.

This was the city's second impaired driving incident and arrested in a fourteen hour period.
