The Grey Bruce Farmers' Week Committee is excited to present a Livestock Day featuring Dr. Temple Grandin.

Dr. Grandin is a Professor of Animal Sciences at Colorado State University. She has been a pioneer in improving the handling and welfare of farm animals. She is a prominent author and speaker on animal behavior. Grandin was honored as one of "Time" magazine's most influential people in 2010 and has authored more than 400 articles in both scientific journals and livestock periodicals on animal handling, welfare and facility design. Recently, she has received the Meritorious award from the World Organization for Animal Health and was inducted into The Academy of Arts and Sciences. Grandin is also widely celebrated as one of the first individuals on the autism spectrum to publicly share her insights and personal experience with autism. Dr Grandin will be presenting, Importance of Good Stockmanship & Design of Livestock Handling Facilities.

That evening there will be an Equine Evening featuring Dr. Grandin and Ian Millar.

Ian Millar is an icon in international show jumping. He is the most decorated equestrian in Canadian history. He is a 10 time Olympian and 12 time Canadian Champion. His record-breaking career has set the bar for its numerous achievements and unparalleled longevity. Ian's presentation will be entitled Managing the Routine of High Level Equine Athletes. The event takes place in the Elmwood Community Centre on October 30th, 2017. Doors open at 5:45 pm and the speakers start at 6:30 pm.  Ticket price includes Desserts and Refreshments.
